The Daily Special - An experiement in universality

We were tasked with designing a fleet of food trucks that had no specific cuisine or theme. But, these trucks had to stand out from the crowd, despite their constantly changing menu and styles. This was the challenge presented to us, and we knew we had to think outside the box to come up with a solution that would truly make an impact.

As we brainstormed and discussed with the owners of the food trucks, we realized that they embodied the spirit of the 1960's Le Mans racing scene. They were bold, ambitious, rebellious, and constantly pushing the limits of their concept. This realization became our key inspiration for the design.

Embracing the Retro Look

Drawing inspiration from the 60's racecar aesthetics, we decided to go retro with the design of the food trucks. Bold stripes reminiscent of the livery of Porsche Racing were incorporated into the overall look, giving the trucks a dynamic and visually striking appearance. The logo, designed to resemble a racing number, added to the theme and tied everything together.

In addition to the truck design, we also developed a line of branded packaging and clothing that complemented the overall retro feel of the project. From wraps to paper bags to staff uniforms, every detail was carefully considered to maintain the cohesive look and feel of the brand.

Finding Inspiration in the Clients

While creating a generic design that isn't generic may seem like an impossible task, we found that the best inspiration came from the clients themselves. By understanding their personalities, passion, and vision, we were able to create a design that truly represented who they are and what they stand for.

Despite the initial challenges we faced, the project turned out to be one of our favorites. It proved that with the right inspiration and approach, even the most daunting design tasks can be successfully tackled.
